City Council Meeting

November 15, 2011

6:30 PM

 

 

Mayor Clary called the meeting to order, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.  Roll call was taken by the Clerk; Council members present were Gary Ventress, Kim Hill, Diane Berg and Jimmy Brown.

 

The minutes of the Regular and Special meeting in October were approved in a motion by Councilman Ventress, seconded by Councilwoman Berg and a vote of aye by all.

 

The Financial report and accounts payable were discussed and approved in a motion by Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilman Ventress and a roll call vote was taken, Council members Hill, Berg, Ventress and Brown all voting aye.

 

Spirit Lake’s new Chamber president, Jeanne Bruner, explained to the Mayor and Council about the Ribbon cutting program planned for the Downtown project completion.  It is scheduled to happen on Friday, December 2, 2011, at three pm, in the town square.  There will be a ribbon cutting, VFW, Timberlake band and choir, lighted lawn mower parade, drawings and lots of fun.  Ms. Bruner presented to the Mayor a $250.00 check for the P&R scholarship fund; the check was very much appreciated.

 

Marc Kroetch presented the P&R report, lots of programs happening for children and adults.  The Winter fun fest will be held on January 28, 2012, it is now being planned/organized.

 

Chief Pat Lawless gave the police report, Mike Wilson has now finished the FTO program, and the chief has received a grant for $4500, for equipment.  Also he is now working on the Holiday for Hero’s program and is in charge of potatoes again which he gets through Millers Food City.

 

Councilman Ventress moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Councilwoman Berg and a vote aye by all.  Meeting closed just after 7pm.

 

Mayor Clary took questions from those present.
