Regular Council Meeting

In Mayor Clary’s absence, President of the Council, Gary Ventress, convened the meeting. Roll call was taken by the Clerk, council members present were Diane Berg, Gary Ventress and Jimmy Brown; Kim Hill absent also. Followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
There were three sets of minutes, one regular meeting and two specials, motion by Councilwoman Berg to approve as written, seconded by Councilman Brown and a vote of aye by all.
The accounts payable and financial statement was reviewed, Councilman Brown moved to approve, seconded by Councilwoman Berg and a roll call vote was taken. Council members Berg, Ventress and Brown all voting aye.
Councilman Ventress moved the Park & Rec report to the next item on the agenda. Heather Riney presented the report, very busy schedule, all going well, lots of sports and other activities. Councilman Brown ask that the rocks be put back where they were (by the rec center) as he was getting complaints concerning four wheelers tearing up the area since they were moved; will be referred back to Marc Kroetch or Mayor.
A public hearing was set for the First Lutheran Church requesting a Conditional Use permit for their new church, motion by Councilman Brown, seconded by Councilwoman Berg and a vote of aye by all, to be held at the regular October council meeting.
Next item on the agenda was the Spirit Lake Industrial Park requesting sewer hookups. Carol Griffin (owner), George Miles (engineer), Dick Martindale (Panhandle Health) and Mike Camin (DEQ) were also present supporting the SLIP. Councilwoman Berg asked Mr. Martindale what would happen if the request for sewer was denied.

Councilwoman Berg moved to table the decision/item until the October meeting as more information and research was required by the Council, seconded by Councilman Brown and a vote of aye by all.
Police report presented by Chief Lawless, Officer Sudol doing well with her training, lots of applications for secretary position, to be reviewed when Mayor returns.
Councilwoman Berg moved to adjourn the meeting, seconded by Councilman Brown and a vote of aye by all. Meeting closed at approximately 7:30pm, after the close of the meeting the Council took questions from the few citizens who attended, a gentleman running for sheriff introduced himself.
